Having not visited this part of Spain for quite some time, I was keen to have a proper look around and meet the hotel management team at the Sol Port Hotel in Cambrils.

Cambrils isn’t a large tourist resort and still retains its authentic Spanish charm. It’s calm and peaceful, with a lovely long seafront and a small marina/port area where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or a snack while taking in the beautiful views.

There are plenty of shops and bars, and with around 150 restaurants — including two with Michelin stars — Cambrils is known as the place to go for exceptional food in the region.

All of this is within easy, flat walking distance from the hotel, which is situated just back from the beach in a quiet residential area.

With only 156 bedrooms this hotel has a welcoming, homely feel. The bedrooms are spacious, each with a small balcony overlooking either the pool area or the gardens. From the fourth floor upwards, you can even enjoy side sea views or full sea views in the premium rooms at the front of the hotel.

Bedrooms come equipped with all the essentials — a kettle, minibar, and walk-in shower — and some rooms with baths are available on request.

By June, we can look forward to lovely weather, and the outdoor area is very pleasant, featuring a good-sized pool.

The carpeted bridge room is conveniently located close to the restaurant and toilet facilities, with all floors accessible by two lifts.

This hotel takes pride in its reputation as a peaceful retreat. Apart from the occasional golfer, it doesn’t cater to lively or noisy groups.

I will be looking forward to returning in June and hope to see you there.

Standard bedrooms all have walk in shower or bath options, city or sea views and can be double or twin beds. Safe, bridge/mini bar and kettles are also included as well as the usual TV, and air conditioning you would expect from a 4 Star Melia Hotel.
