There’s plenty to discover nearby, from the historic market towns of Thornbury and Wotton-under-Edge to Cheltenham’s elegant streets and gardens. Around 30 minutes away, Gloucester Cathedral is famed for its magnificent Norman architecture and vaulted cloisters, made famous as a Harry Potter filming location. Tudor Thornbury Castle and Slimbridge, home to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, also make excellent days out.

For walkers, the Cotswold Way offers spectacular countryside, rolling hills and sweeping views across the Severn Vale.
